Rebel Buzz n Frog

The Pro's:
What do you get when you mix a topwater frog bait and a buzzbait? You get the Rebel Buzz n Frog. I am always on the hunt for interesting lures and these are no exception. The Rebel Buzz n Frog is a topwater buzz bait that floats when you are not reeling in your line. When you retrieve this lure the two back legs spin as a buzzbaits blade would spin. This lure comes in four different colors and you can find them in the $5-$7 price range. This Lure is made of hard plastic and is two and a half inches long, weighs 1/2oz and comes equipped with a 1/0 dual hook. This bait is semi-weedless and is a really good caster.

The Con's:
I found this lure at my local bait and tackle shop and its package was covered in dust, that should have been my first indication that It may not be a good lure. I have used this several times over this last summer with little to no success. I believe the problem lies in the lack of noise it makes because of its plastic coated tail.

Is it a good buy?
I wouldn't buy again.

I fish primarily largemouth bass in Wisconsin lakes. I love fishing topwater baits, but most of them are not weedless. I was using the soft rubber frogs with a couple hooks kept close to the rubber frog...and I would get lots of strikes...but very few "hook-ups". One day I had only one hook-up out of 10 good hits where they actually took in the bait. so in disgust I bought one of the Rebel Buzz'n Frog baits & now I hook up 9 out of 10 strikes...I continued to catch lots of bass on them, in the past year I have bought 6 more and friends have also got some after using mine. The beauty is...you can throw that thing way into the lily-pads & jiggle it a bit & crawl it back to the boat over, under, and around the pads or you can give a short jerk & it makes all kinds of noise like a buzz-bait..splashy noise...It is now our favorite topwater bait for bass..period. One criticism...I have lost 4 of the hooks (one to a bass). They can come off if turned around just right...so now I wind some line tight around the hook shanks & seal with a drop of fingernail policy. does not affect performance.

This is a fantastic lure for aggressive pikes. They cannot resist.
